Hello.
I want an explanation about the following, please:
A motherboard DDR2 only supports memories DDR2 and not DDR3.
A motherboard DDR3 supports DDR3 and also DDR2.
Is this true?
Thanks and good evening.

I looked at a lot of motherboards recently. Only a few of the boards I saw accepted either DDR3 memory or DDR2 memory. Most motherboards accepted DDR3 memory only, or accepted DDR2 memory only.

There are some things I forgot to mention. The boards that supported both memory types had 4 slots, with 2 slots reserved for DDR3 and 2 slots reserved for DDR2, and only one type could be installed at a time. Also, DDR3 had to be supported by the installed CPU.

They aren't interchangable. The voltages are different for one and the sockets are also different.
