    Hi folks. I'm trying to find out how and what file types to use to rip my DVDs and Blu Rays to a hard drive that I can take with me. Quality is a priority here. Please advise. Thanks!

    MakeMKV. No quality loss. One file.

    Or do you also want to shrink? You will then lose quality.

    not sure what you are pointing to. I'm talking about ripping to hard drive, not streaming.

    Isnt' this what DVDFab is doing....and cheaper? Seems like it based on the time it takes to convert and the file size.

    Yep, you can use dvdfab and make an iso from the dvd or blu-ray also.

    But if I use DVDFab to make MKV it is still an exact copy right? It doesn't seem like I can alter the settings so I would assume so. Also the file size is very large.

    Lossless = Rip
    Rip = Lossless
    ....because a "rip" is an exact copy of the DVD or Blu Ray disc that is placed on your hard drive
    via a "ripping" program.
