Is there anybody who has Technics DV-170?

I've just bought one of these. Absolutely excellent.

Apart from it aint multi-region ( )and won't play about 80 million different formats( ). The instructions say that it'll play VCDs but later on it says it doesn't support CD-R, DVD-R, etc,etc

Does anyone know where I can get this chipped.

The guy I bought it off did say that he'd managed to play a VCD in it, are there certain types that will play?

I'd greatly appreciate any help.

This may be the longest between posts in a single thread ever here. Since your post actually has something to do with the previous posts, I won't criticize you for that. But in general we're not very happy when people dig up old threads to post to them.

You need to buy a new player that can do what you want rather than trying to find help modifying a player this ancient. Players that old were extremely fussy with burnable media. Some might not play DL discs at all. Some might have problems with -R or +R discs, RW discs of any kind, and so on.
