Through a little less than 6 months of experimenting, I have found that my player plays MPEG-2 movies (*xsvcds and svcds) significantly better than it plays MPEG-1 (**xvcds and vcds).
*MPEG-2
352x240 Resolution
Full Screen (keep aspect ratio 2)
CBR
Normal Motion Search Precision
the rest of the options standard SVCD
**MPEG-1
352x240 Resolution
Full Screen (keep aspect ratio 2)
CBR
Normal Motion Search Precision
the rest of the options are standard VCD
Since I have tried several different settings and templates, I have come to the conclusion that the difference in how well my movies play lies within the choice between MPEG-1 and MPEG-2.
Alas, the question. What could it be in MPEG-2 encoding that makes it play ***smoother on my player. (***no a/v syncing problems). I have even tried encoding the same movie with the XSVCD setts versus the XVCD setts to make sure that it wasn't a bad source. As I thought, the XSVCD played through without any a/v syncing problems.
Anyone have any theories as to why a/v messups only happen when I encode to MPEG-1?
