  1. I was able to get my hands on a Panasonic AG-1980 and for the most part it seems to be working OK except I've noticed some distortion during playback. When the playing a video in Virtual Dub the bottom of the screen has some horizontal lines. It doesn't matter what tape I play old, newer, home video, commercial the distortion is always there.

    So I was wonder if anyone had a good solution for this. I'm guessing the VCR needs cleaning or the heads need to be realigned...or something. I've never cleaned or repaired a VCR before.

    Attached is a screen shot. You'll notice at the bottom of the video there are some video lines that are offset to the right.

    Overscan....it won't be on the final video.

    Consider it a way the video and the VCR talk to one another, nothing else.

    You won't see it in a DVD authoring program's output (as a DVD).
