  1. Hi, I am encoding a SVCD from a dvd. The source is anamorphic Widescreen 1:1.85, and i encode with tmpeg as PAL widescreen. When i plays the mpeg in PowerDVD i get a perfect Widescreen, but when i Burn as svcd, and plays in my Standalone, i get Full SCreen, and BAD AR.

Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong ?

    Sincerely, DiKu

you are making an anamorphic svcd and it wont work as it should on most players...if you have 16:9 switch on your tv you could use it or the best way, encode it to non anamarphic svcd(black borders)

  3. Thank you for your quick answer. How do i encode with Black Borders? I have tried encoding with 4:3 settings, but i still got bad AR and no boarders.

    Sincerely, DiKu

  4. Why with borders on 1:1.85?
DVD Players usually don't detect the AR Tag and afaik a SVCD is normally 4:3. But that is completely ok. Just encode the DVD Movie in 4:3 but don't use "Full Screen (keep aspect Ratio)" but only "Full Screen" which will just put the original DVD picture in those 480x480 (without black borders in the 1:1.85 case) and you can manually switch to "Widescreen" on your TV when you start watching your CD.
