Okay, so i'm trying to make a mkv into an avi file (without any loss in quality)
Here is the catch, i want the avi to work in gordian knot so that i can make it avi/xvid.
I tried opening the file in vdubmod, but it just gets stuck in the opening matroska file loading thing.
I have never done anything with mkv's or hd before, but the source file is 720p mkv.

So what im asking is the best way to get this mkv file to an avi that will work with gordian knot.
If is isn't possible then can you tell me what the best programs are to make this mkv into an xvid that are similar to gordian knot

Nope, you will lose quality. But if you use high enough bitrate you shouldn't notice too much quality loss.

And this is not blu-ray ripping. Moving you our conversion section.

Is there anything out there that just makes an exact copy of mkv files but makes them xvid and avi?

also is there no xvid encode window for mkv2avi? cause it said starting xvid_encraw or w/e and its been like that for like 10 mins without any encode window or any other messeges.
