How to select audio channel when converting MKV files ?

I have a MKV file which play using Media player classic and I can use navigate/Audio language under MPC the language I want from French or English. I have a portable media player which can play avi or rmvb. I tried to convert the MKV file so that I can play it on my PMP. I started with WIN AVI to convert the file to avi. But I can see no option for selecting which channel. I also tried Easy Real media producer to convert it to RMVB, again find no options. The converted file is always French which I believe is the default channel. But that is not what I want. Does anyone know how I can do it with WIN AVI or Real Media producer? Is there any other package out there that I can try. I prefer not to have to buy another convertor after paying for WIN AVI already.

You could use mkvtoolnix to remove audio tracks in the mkv. Then convert.
