Lost My HD Writer 1.1 CD, Can't Take Video Off of My Panasonic HC-V100?

Hi guys!
I'm completely new here, but I'd really appreciate any and all help; I'm having a problem with my Panasonic HC-V100 as I've lost my HD Writer 1.1 CD. My computer (which uses Windows Vista) doesn't recognise that there are any video files on the camcorder at all, which means that I can't use video converters to change the file type (from AVCHD). It only recognises snapshots and does not show any video files at all, although there are several on the camera.

Does anyone know how I could fix this, or where I could download HD Writer 1.1? I just really want to be able to put my videos on my laptop, and any help would be massively appreciated!

I looked at the specs for that camera on the Panasonic website. It indicates that the camera uses an SD card to store images and video. Have you tried removing the card and placing it in a card reader to see if the videos are then displayed? Might need a viewing player like VLC to watch but they should be easy enough to copy to the laptop hard drive if Explorer can see them as files.

You won't find it easy to locate a copy of HD Writer to download, and Panasonic will charge you for a new CD.

As OldMan64 suggests, take the card out, fit it into a card reader, and connect it to a USB port. You computer will recognise the device as a standard bulk storage device.

Click through - 'PRIVATE - AVCHD - BDMV - STREAM' Inside the STREAM folder you'll find the .MTS files. Those are your video files.

AS i posted to several threads in time gone by :-
Take the SD card out of the camcorder. Plug it into a card reader ( most laptops have one built-in -- you might have to buy a USB-plug in type of card-reader for a desktop computer. They are very cheap 1or2 £ UK) ) then use 'Windows Explorer' . Explore the the files on the card and copy the video files (????.VOB ) from the card into the computer . Then you can do what you want with your videos. - play - edit - add music-convert it - put is on a disc for your granny - or whatever .
I have never used the Panasonic software that came with my with my camcorder this procedure is much easier and you can choose whatever applications you happen to like to process it

The OP has an HD camcorder, which records to SD card as AVCHD. The videos will be .MTS format, as I describe in my post above. No VOB files here -those refer to the standard definition DVD video file format.

I had same prob, I lost my disc lol . u should be able to put USB or fire wire and access vids that way if not I can send u hd writer software no prob .

I use a Panasonic HDC-SD5 set to record at 1440 x 1080 (16by9) 25 frames/sec
I was confused by the file references that I get after processing . I am sorry for this mistake. The movie files as recorded on the SD card are actually :-
.. Private> AVCHD> BDMV> Stream> 0005(or whatever)./MTS
