  1. For some reason Smartripper keeps locking up. Happens at different points (20%, 50%, 70% etc) but always happans.

I recently upgraded from a K6-2 400 to a Tbird 1.2Ghz, all hardware is the same. The MB is an ECS K7VZA (VIA KT133 chipset) and I've installed the newest 4in1 drivers.

Runing win2k with DMA enabled (if available). Do I need to switch to PIO? I've been playing with it for a while but no luck. Any ideas, hints, suggestions???

  2. Smart Ripper depends on a working ASPI Layer, so I suggest you try re-installing or updating your ASPI Layer, as far as I know it does not come with Windows2000, you might also want to try and use the latest Smart Ripper out there, it has several ASPI configuration options.

  3. i had the same problem, the thing i did was turning on syncronisation in the settings for the DVD. I also checked "ignore low discspace". Now i can rip without any problems. Hmmmmm!?!?!?!

  4. Kladden by 'syncronisation' do you mean 'Sync data transfer' under Control panels | System | Device manager | DVD properties?

Actually I found out the my soundcard causes the system to lock up, and my video card might be causing problems (AGP). I plan to get a new video card next month (GeForce 2 MX400 64MB) which I hope will fix everything

DVD2AVI will also lock up sometimes, but ONLY after it reaches 100%/finish (the message displays and the computer locks up???).

  5. Well, you can always try to reinstall the PC
With just the essentials, and then run the programs and see if they still lock up the PC, if they don't, then you just had a configuration/drivers bugs.
