Just installed a Blu-Ray Player on my laptop and need to find the best software for Blu-ray playback. I have installed trial versions of Archsoft Media Theater and Cyberlink PowerDVD 10. They both seem to be about the same and work fine.
Anyone have any suggestions on which is the best to use or should I just go by the lowest price? I havent found any free ones.

  2. Of the two you mention, I prefer Arcsoft by far. I have both and uninstalled PowerDVD, which is touchy about playing ripped BDs. You need to enable the PowerDVD workaround in AnyDVDHD to play rips. But maybe the latest version is better, I dunno. It has other faults however.

As to free players, MPCHC and Splash, for instance, can play *.m2ts files nicely, no chapters though. I always back up my Blu-Rays to my HTPC and re-encode to BD 5 or 9. I've converted some of them to MKV to play in MPCHC, in which case you can play subs and have chapters. But Arcsoft is perfectly satisfactory, so I've dropped that plan.

    Good luck.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
