This file contains a track in the AAC (advanced audio coding)(code "255") format. You may need to install a directshow decoder for this audio format...

guns1inger, thanks for your answer.
Why do you say that I probably screwed my system?
My final objective is to be able to access the file to get its properties on a c# application I'm developing so I'd need system-wide solution instead of a magic playerLast edited by timmyo; 19th Jul 2010 at 08:16.

Codec packs often conflict with each other and may cause various system problems that you don't want to deal with, hence guns1inger's comment. The more codec packs you install, the greater the likelihood that they'll cause problems for you.

You are developing on the wrong platform then. Windows 2003 was never intended to be a client platform. It is a server platform, and as such not designed with video playback in mind. If you are developing for client playback, develop on a client OS.
Secondly, there is no universal solution. Windows is now based around DirectShow, but you still need codecs installed for each video type. While the lazy use the scatter-gun approach of throwing a codec pack and hoping everything works, the best solution is to use the DirectShow interface, and install the appropriate codecs as your require them.Read my blog here.
