    Will the Samsung BD-C6900 play movies from HDD as well as from Disc? I can't seem to find a definitive answer

    Apparently you haven't looked too hard. The manual is available for download at the Samsung site : http://www.samsung.com/au/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=03230...sub_class_cd=P and explains what it can and cannot do.
