hi. I am trying to convert some mkv files to avi w/ mp3 so i can stream them to my ps3. I am using virtualdub 1.8.1 and i have to use avisynth 2.5 in order to open the source files in v-dub. i am doing direct stream copy for the video and full processing to 160kb LameMP3 for audio. keep in mind that the files are only 22 minutes long each and the output from v-dub gives me 13.4gb monster files. I am guessing it is because v-dub is treating the video as being uncompressed, but I don't know of any way to fix this without having to recompress them and compromise the quality. I would really like to do this without altering the video because it is darn near dvd quality.

ffdshow says that the source video is avc1/h.264 with aac audio 119kbs

Stream the mkv directly PS3 Media server.

Or convert to a vob or avchd/m2ts with mkv2vob that should work on the ps3. No quality loss.

    MkvConvert is also worth trying.
