I have an acer aspire 4520 laptop that's a couple years old now.My problem is that not all dvds will play on the media player, but some will.I have put brand new dvds in and they won't take but they will play on other laptops or dvd players.I've never run any type of cleaning system or solution on this laptop, could this be the reason that the dvd player is a hit or miss right now?

I had the same problem with a dvd recorder.
This is the thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/318001-Sony-DVDRDR-DC100-video-recorder-doesn-t-rea...-some-DVDvideo
but there was no answer from anyone.
I think that the compatibility with DVDs is very different with different machines.
Have a good day
