  1. Hi guys, basically I have some mkv files that i want to make into AVI ones of lower resolution and bitrate but AVIDemux gives me a message about B frames and crashes and stuttering when i load it, it also offers a different mode but that can lose frame accuracy.

Are there any plug ins i should get so i can convert my videos? thanks

I have AVIDemux, VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod on my computer

Try other free converters, like xmedia recode or mkv2avi.

  3. Thanks for that. I tried MKVtoAVI and it worked a charm.
I have a good quality AVI which is less than the usual 350mb.

I have a few follow up questions.
Setting the average bit rate to 750 was what got me my file, now, I know there is this constant quality thing where it changes the bitrate depending on how much the picture is changing (or something like that), will setting the average to a number still allow it to use a lower bitrate when the picture is fairly static i.e not an action scene?

    Thanks
