After reading the guides in this forum, I decided to try out the DVDFab 7 for ripping a DVD so that I could store it in my hard disk. DVDFab 7 did a good job and I got the VIDEO_TS folder with the VOB, IFO and BUP files. When I play the files in VLC media player, the menus show up and are clickable - which is fine. However, how much I choose the 'English for the Hearing Impaired' or English Captions, the subtitles do not at all show up when playing.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong. I used the DVD to DVD mode with the Main Disk option, and simply removed the checkmarks from the French and German audio for the main movie files. I left the subpicture options as they were.

Can someone please help me with this? Thanks in advance.
    Transcoding newbie... sigh!

DVDFab does that somtimes, you can uncheck all of the unwanted audio and subtitles. Rip the movie, check it with MediaInfo, and everything you unchecked is there! I have never had that problem with CloneDVD.
