I was looking through my old electronics and I found a 1984 VHS deck. It's a two part model (tuner and deck) intended to be used with a camcorder. My question is it worth keeping and/or using to do transfers to a DVD recorder. Model number for the deck is 1CVD5025X and the tuner has a model number of 1CVT640 and like the title says it was made by General Electric.
I did tests and it plays tapes back fine with no artifacts video or audio although I do need to use an adapter for the audio.

These really old VCRs look like crap on quality, but can sometimes be magic for really weirdo tapes. I keep a couple of old beasts, for this reason.

Yeah the tracking seems better then the other VHS deck but that one is a $40 walmart model (Toshiba W522).
Also are there any special requirements (cleaning tape for example) with a top loading VHS (which the GE is) versus the front slot loading ones.
