    I have a gateway mx 8711 laptop with vista home premium with an optiarc ad-7530a. Having problems formating a disc, Cannot find upper and lower filter tabs in regedit, Any help greatly accepted!

  2. Have you located and clicked on this registry sub-key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    There may be more than one of the above. Look again, be very certain the entire string matches. It's easy to think you have the correct key, and be looking at the wrong one. If there are no upper/lower filter entries there, then you have no software installed that can interfere with existing filter drivers in the storage stack.

    Yes I did go 2 that sub key and still did not find the upper filter tab

  4. Then you don't have an upper filter entry. [shrugs] The computer I'm on at the moment doesn't either, although there is a lower filter entry related to RecordNow pxengine.

    Usually deleting upper/lower filters is the last resort. What exactly have you done to troubleshoot? Tried a different disc, for example?

    What specific disc/brand/media do you want to format?
