Anyone know if it's possible to burn DVD style VIDEO_TS files onto a BD-R and if so would it play in a set top box?
I have some old DVDs I had authored myself with TMPG Authoring Works that contain a mix of Mpeg-1 and Mpeg-2 streams. If I understand it correctly Mpeg-1 is not a valid video format for Blu-ray so I would in theory have to re-encode these to 720 x 480 Mpeg-2 to make them Blu-ray complaint which seems like a colossal waste of time and disc space.
TMPG Authoring Works allows creation of oversize DVD folders. If I were to create a 23GB DVD and then burn it onto a BD-R, anyone know if it'd play?

Won't work,a BlueRay player looks for the BR file structure, not finding it,it will not play. You would need to re-author everything to BR file structure.
