Oh man I hate this kind of weather. It's been raining all day and the rain changed to freezing rain, and now sleet. There is already a layer of ice over everything outside. I've got a huge tree in my front yard that is sagging from the weight of the ice. Not fun. Hopefully the electric won't go out. At least I have a natural gas heater that doesn't need electric to run so my family won't get cold....

Well the ice and sleet quit. Now it's snowing. Still have power and heat! My kids are going stir crazy though which is driving me nuts.

I used to feel that way until my oldest son was born. Then my outlook on kids changed.

As much as they can bother me sometimes... They really do enrich my life. I look forward to time with them every day. Got two boys 4 and 8. One biological and one adopted. Love them boys. Hoping to adopt a little girl soon. Then our family will be complete.

Yeah bro. Thats gotta suck. Snow like that takes forever to go away. But I'll take snow over ice any day. Ice causes some major damage.

It didn't get as bad here as what the news was first calling for though. The ice quit and the temp went up to just above freezing which was enough to keep things from getting bad. I was worried that it was going to be like what happened here in 2007. We had an ice storm that caused some major damage. The ice weighs heavily on all the trees and power lines. Eventually there is too much weight and things start breaking. I had many neighbors who had trees actually fall on their houses because of the weight of the ice. I got lucky. Had a huge oak tree in my back yard that fell the opposite direction of my house. If it would have fell the other way I wouldn't have had a house left.

Here's some pics of nearby tulsa during the ice storm of 07. I'm so glad that we didn't get all that ice this time.

Those huge snow/ice piles in the street will still be there a month from now, I am sure.

I wore metal baseball cleats to take out the trash this morning, so as not to slip and fall on my ass.
The entire street, sidewalks, driveways -- all covered with at least a half inch of solid ice. And snow on top.
I wonder if they'll actually be picking up.

No. They say they are around here but I can't see the garbage trucks getting through.

Trash came today. Still icy, watched it slide in the curb across the street.

Finally got our first trash pickup in weeks. And it's about to snow again.
