I've had a look over the forums, and despite seeing a lot of people having driver trouble, I don't think that's what's up with my issue. I'm new to this malarkey, so please excuse me if I sound like an idiot!

Basically I have bought a Black magic intensity pro to capture footage from an xbox 360. I've set the card up and installed all the software. Now, I'm down one HDMI cable at the moment, so to make sure everything worked I fired up my 360 while it was connected to the Tv, scaled back the res to 720, and then removed the cable from the TV and wired it into the BM.

I then went to the BM control panel and set the input to HDMI video&HDMI audio (Incidentally, this says I'm on the 3.4 drivers, I gather these are okay). All other options where left as default.

I then went into the Black magic media express program (Which incidentally won't fit on my screen for some reason- the bottom isn't in the window...). I went to edit, preferences and set the project file to 720, the same as the 360 was broadcasting in. Aside from Channing the save directories for still and videos, all options where left alone.

I clicked the screen.... nothing. I went to the capture tab... nothing. On the master tab I clicked preview and got an error message that read 'Cannot record, the record inhibit switch on either the device or the cassette is set'.

Is this an issue with HDCP (I'm not recording movies, just game play)? Will the black magic only work if it has an input and an output going at the same time? IS it the xbox 360's problem?

A friend suggested I could solve the problem by using a HDMI splitter to send the 360's signal to the TV and the PC at the same time, but I don't want to fork out even more cash without knowing I'm on the right track!

Thanks in advance for the assit people.

I've never heard of the problem you have, but Media Express is cut off the screen for me too. Although it has more options and I'd rather use that if it fit my screen, I instead use Media Express v1. Pretty much the same thing just smaller and simpler.
