Yesterday I downloaded the DVD workshop. This is really weird:
You can't make chapters out of mpeg files, you have to use avi.
Chapters are really nice, fancy moveing menus and self made templates, but SVCD chapetrs have the same lack of supporting prev/next button on DVD player.
The avi-mpeg converter makes nice pictures, but the compression is not so good: 10 Minutes avi gave 220MB SVCD (at 2200 KBit/s).I don't know why, because I can't play the mpg file from the SVCD with my PC.The SVCD plays fine on the standalone player.
    These are my first impressions.
I think the price (279$ and more ) is too high, if you already own Mediastudio and DVD-Factory(plugin).
    Anyone else tested the SW?

  2. I tried to use it but it gave me an error about not being able to read the
    codec.

Most of the dll's are from Studio and Movie Factory anyway.

Why bother with above? Get Spruce Up- reliable and simple to use.

  4. Here is my 2c's; Using the same trial version, I've captured a half hour educational program via Dazzle Hollywood Bridge off of Tivo S-video directly into DVD-NTSC compliant MPEG2 (720x480@6000CBR, I think). It dropped ~600 frames during the total ~30000 frames (don't actually remember the total # of frames...) captured. Don't know if that's good or bad, it's just how it went down. The result is a ~600+ MB MPEG2 that looks good, although the sound is slightly out of sync. Not sure why that is, but it's not that bothersome, eventhough the program I've captured is a language course. Will see how it does with my VHS tapes. BTW, it looks to me the DVD Workshop is just the latest version of the Movie Factory with some DVD oriented interface. Is the final price really in $300 range? That seems too much. And isn't SpruceUp out of circulation? Apple's got them, I think.
