  1. i wanna get anydvd maybe cause i read good things about it.

    1. can you change the region of the dvds? cause my dvd player for the tv can read all but my laptop not. and i got some imported dvds.

    2. can you cut out the ads etc.? this is annoying.... i dont need those when i wanna watch in train etc.

    3. will anydvd harm my original dvds or change somehow? cause some are a bit rare or hard to get and dont want to change them just back up some too.

    1. Anydvd disables the region check on your laptop and if you copy it to your hdd it will be removed.
    2. No. It's just a ripper. It can't convert or edit.
    3. No.

thanks for the fast answer, so i guess BluFab would be the better alternative then to remove the ads etc.? cause it seems the shareware is enough then so i dont need to buy anydvd?

If you're going to use BluFab then you don't need AnyDVD, but I'm not willing to tell an inexperienced newbie that "shareware is enough" for what you want to do. It may or may not be, depending on part on what you have, what you know to do with it, and where you live. Basically DVDs and BluRay discs from the USA/Canada may have special copy protections on them that some freeware doesn't handle well or at all. But you can still have issues on some discs in others parts of the world. Basically now anything made anywhere by Sony may need commercial ripping programs like AnyDVD or BluFab just to get it off the disc so it can be converted to something you could play as you want.

The movie is copied 1:1, minus the encryption.

Ripping means making a 1:1 unencrypted copy. Ripping isn't editing. If you want to edit video, rip the video and then process the rip with an editor that's suitable for the type of video. You seem to be ripping movies, which are usually progressive + pulldown frames. Best to look into that before you start tearing one apart.

DVDFab/BluFab/whateverFab is the product of a company that bundles in conversion tools along with the ripping.

AnyDVD only rips. It can't convert.

The company that makes the "Fab" products got into trouble with the US legal system when they got sued and didn't show up in court. They moved their website to China. You can decide whether or not you feel comfortable with that.
