  1. Hi Guys.
I have been trying to make an MKV with subtitles for playing in my Tvix 6600. No compression on video and audio.
    1. Ripping with DVDFab 6 (Main movie), with AnyDVD in the background.
    2. Demuxed the subtitles with TsMuxerGUI.
    3. Converting the m2ts file from the rip with MakeMKV.
    4. Converting the .Sub file to .srt with SupRip
    5. Put the Video/audio and subtitles together with MKVmerge.

The movie is almost ok, except for the 4 line subtitles. The subtitles is written with a pretty big font and sometimes when there is alot of letters the subtitles is split up in 4 lines. That does not look nice.
Can anybody tell me how to get over that problem. I have understod that the .srt file i only text and can't carry font size information. Is there anywhere in the process where I can make some other settings to get down to a max 2 line subtitle.
I have tried to convert to .ssa because it carries font size informations, but the MKVmerge can't work with .ssa files.

I would try a subtitle editor and see if it has any such feature(max 2 lines), try subtitle edit and subtitle workshop. Or maybe the old srtwiz will fix that.

It seems you have a VERY-old version (or a very-buggy build) of MKVtoolnix...

  4. Thanks Baldrick, I have tried subtitle workshop but every time I try to open either a .srt file or a .sub file I get the message that it's "bad subtitle or unsupported format". I will try subtitle edit or srtwiz.

    Also thanks El Heggunte.
Sorry my mistake, I have tried so much, that I'm all confused. I tried to merge the MKV with the .ssa subtitle with MKVmerge, but the result was: subtitle was way out of sync. The subtitles showen from the beginning of the movie, was the subtitles from about 1 hour and 15 minutes in the movie. It also showed both titles and time to set the titles.
If you can help me with some settings to get the subtitles in Sync with the movie and only to show the really subtitles I would be very happy.

  5. Now I have tried to make an .ssa file with (with subtitle edit) significant reduced fontsize. This time the sync. was perfect and the start/end time for the titles was not showen, but the subtitles in the finished MKV was just as big as earlyer and still with both 3 and 4 lines somewhere

When I look at the srt file through subtitle edit it looks fine. It's specified max. 40 char/line, 2 lines and with marked line shift at the right places. But the result when saved in ssa and muxed in MKVmerge is still the same. Any other good sugestions ???

  6. Hi Guys.
Now I have updatet the Tvix box to the latest beta firmware, and the problem with the subtitles are gone. It seems like the font had become smaller and everything is ok.
But the best of it all, is that with the new firmware they have managed to make a "BD lite" thing, witch makes it possible to play the BD rip without converting to MKV and all the other muxen, demuxen, converting subs and all.
Thank you for your help, guys.
