Thanks to others (thanks yp972) on the forum I can now import and edit my Creative Vado "HD" 1280x720 files. I have been successful at saving in native resolution as .mp4 and as .mpg but would like to save (share in Adobe language) these in avi at 1280X 720 so I can play them off a USB stick in my DVD player. It will play xVid and Divx encoded avi's off the usb port.

This would save making a disc each time I wish to watch my cheesy videos.

    Any help appreciated

What DVD player ? Most can only play standard definition material (i.e. 720 wide or smaller)

it is a Pioneer Elite DV-48AV. I believe it has played just about anything I have tried though I have not tried anything higher than standard xvid/divx (640x480, 720x480) files.

To be honest, I have yet to find a way to save a video in 1280x720 AVI that will even play in VLC.

    thanks for the interest.

The player is only Divx Ultra certified, not Divx HD, so it will only play SD resolution Divx material.

Ok fair enough, makes sense...So I guess my option then is to encode the video using the codec that the Vado uses and play it back through the HDMI out on the Vado...

which of course leads to the question, I know it installed a codec when I first plugged it in..no idea how to access the codec from the Adobe interface though...actually it is probably just a decoder so wont help anyways..dang.

AVI is just a container. Usually you have to select AVI for output, then select the Custom (or similar) option in order to chose the correct codec and configure it. I have not used Premiere in a long time, and I don't know how restrictive Elements is, but the full version used to have two ways of outputting. One was an Export option (from memory) that used a different encoding engine and gave you more options.

I suspect however that your answer will be found by pressing F1 and doing some reading.
