  1. I usually watch some shows on TV, from my PC but when I play the videos I get most of the times some sort of horizontal "wrinkle". The wrinkle is coming from the top of the screen, going down, like credits from a movie, then disappears for 2-3 seconds and appears again from top of the screen.
I have the same behavior with all the players.
Any idea what might be wrong?

Type of TV - CRT, LCD, Plasma etc

Type of connection - DVI, HDMI, s-video, component etc

    Type of gfx card

Connection paths - do you connect directly to the TV, or through another component - amplifier, VCR etc

Resolution - relevant especially if connecting through an analogue connection type

More information is needed to be able to give you any reasonable answer

  3. Something like this?

The tear may scroll up/down the screen in time.

Yes, very similar, maybe not as visible as yours.

One other thing, when I use KMplayer, I get the picture like this:
It looks like the image is made from many small cubes, if I can explain like that

  6. How obvious the tearing is depends on how much motion there is in the frame. It will be most obvious on panning shots.

It is a problem with either the player or graphics drivers switching frames while the frame is being displayed rather than waiting for vertical retrace. This can be controlled within the player or withing the graphics card's drivers. Look for settings like Alternate VSync, triple buffering, etc. Also try using different output renderers.

In KMPlayer go to Options -> Preferences -> Video Processing. Select the Renderer tab try different renderers. Also try enabling/disabling "Fix The Broken VSync..." option. On the General tab try the Video Output Queue option.

If you're running multiple monitors you may find that one has tearing the other doesn't.

You are right, only the TV is tearing. I've activated the "Fix the broken Vsync" but still I have the tear, is is not as big as before but still there.

  8. Unfortunately, with a dual display setup I don't think it's possible to have no tearing on both displays.

I don't remember having this tearing with my old graphic card...
Anyway, is there a possibility to have the tearing on the pc and not on TV?

Try switching the two displays in the Nvidia Control Panel:

Or swapping outputs at the graphics card's connectors (if possible).

I've seen this from old VHS cameras -- it's part of the video. I forget what that's supposed to be called, don't see it often.

    Not the case here.

MPCHC also has a "Tearing Test" (Ctrl+T) and an anti tearing option (View->Options->Direct3D Fullscreen) which might help.
