I've had a Yamaha CRW2100E with firmware 1.0N for the last year. I used to burn all of my CDs at 16x, just fine. Now when I try to I am getting an error at about 12% through each time. I've tried dropping back to 8x and it will burn just fine. Is the drive taking a crap? Has my system slowed so I can't keep up? Have I accidentally switched something somewhere? Can I diagnose it?
Please help me stop making coasters! Thanks!![]()

2 More pieces of information.
1- I have Nero 5.x
2- My Yamaha is in the Primary Slave position and using PIO mode.
I can't seem to get it to run in DMA mode. Everything else connected to my IDEs are in DMA....... -
what error are you getting?
for example opc or power calibration errors most likely are related to bad media (not always brand but batch).
post what you get verbatim, & i'll see if i know, i'm sure others can be helpful if more info is given.

ok here's what happens:
when I get to about 12% the "Used read buffer" and the "Recorder Buffer Level/State" start to drop to zero. When the both hit zero I get a:
"Write Error" folowed by a
"Could not peform end of Disc at Once"
Buffer underrun?
why?; what's not keeping up?
