  1. I've had a Yamaha CRW2100E with firmware 1.0N for the last year. I used to burn all of my CDs at 16x, just fine. Now when I try to I am getting an error at about 12% through each time. I've tried dropping back to 8x and it will burn just fine. Is the drive taking a crap? Has my system slowed so I can't keep up? Have I accidentally switched something somewhere? Can I diagnose it?

Please help me stop making coasters! Thanks!

  2. 2 More pieces of information.

    1- I have Nero 5.x

2- My Yamaha is in the Primary Slave position and using PIO mode.

I can't seem to get it to run in DMA mode. Everything else connected to my IDEs are in DMA.......

  3. what error are you getting?
for example opc or power calibration errors most likely are related to bad media (not always brand but batch).

post what you get verbatim, & i'll see if i know, i'm sure others can be helpful if more info is given.

  4. ok here's what happens:

when I get to about 12% the "Used read buffer" and the "Recorder Buffer Level/State" start to drop to zero. When the both hit zero I get a:
    "Write Error" folowed by a
"Could not peform end of Disc at Once"

    Buffer underrun?

    why?; what's not keeping up?
