A couple of years ago I moved my iTunes Music folder from my C drive to a second internal drive M (named that folder simply iTunes) but I'm tired of everytime I format my C drive it can't find the file path (just formatted again and installed Windows 7). I have a bigger drive now (C) so I want to get it back to the iTunes default location.

After reinstalling iTunes it is now showing the new (default iTunes 9 Media Folder layout) file path of C:\Users\Name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media but there is no Music folder insider the iTunes Media folder.

Since I'm using iTunes 9 how do I move the iTunes Music folder back to my C drive, would it just be a matter of dragging it to the iTunes Media folder on the C drive noting the file path above?

I wouldn't mind leaving a copy of it on my M drive as a backup.

I believe iTunes v9 creates an ' iTunes Media folder' when it's a new fresh install/new user..
What I would do is, re-name the backup folder on M drive from iTunes to 'iTunes Music' and drag&drop the folder to your iTunes folder on your C drive 'MY Music' folder..You'll have this,
    C:\Users\Name\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
And you'll still have/keep your M drive backup..

Unless of course Win7 doesn't have a 'My Music' Folder.. I haven't upgraded myself..Still using Vista and XP..

I actually have iTunes 9 installed on my Windows 7 laptop so yes it does create an Itunes Media folder layout as I described above.

The iTunes 9 default path is C:\Users\Name\Music\\iTunes\iTunes Media so this is how it is displayed on my laptop, now located inside the iTunes Media folder is Music, Audiobooks, Automatically Add to iTunes, Tv Shows, Voice Memos Movies, Downloads, iPod Games, iTune U, Mobile Applications, Podcasts, Ringtones. Since my laptop uses the iTunes 9 default location I know how it should look.

Now on my desktop computer where I want to move the iTunes Music folder back it also show the new iTunes default location C:\Users\Name\Music\\iTunes\iTunes Media so I really don't want it to show up as C:\Users\Name\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music if that makes sense.

On my desktop with this new iTunes default location looking inside the iTunes Media folder the only thing there is Automatically Add to iTunes and .iTunes Preferences.

So do you still think it should be dragged to the iTunes folder or maybe the iTunes Media folder? Also do you think it should be renamed Music instead of iTunes Music since this is how it now appears in 9.0 file system?

This is all pretty complicated to me!

No problems moving itunes music back here ... using SyncBack ... or in the case such utility was not used just copy the music to the new itunes default directory but make sure itunes is not open beforehand

Bjs are you saying to do as t0nee1 suggested by importing the files into the "Automatically Add to iTunes folder"? Or to the iTunes folder? Or to the iTunes Media folder?
