    what tmpgenc version?

It might be possible if you have codecs installed(ffdshow, haali media splitter) so you can play the m2ts directly with windows media player.

Or else could you try xvid4psp, format factory or prism and convert to a mpeg2 directly.

is it possible to frameserve to TMPGEnc? I really like having the control over the final video such as framerate and interlace ..etc

But can you playt the m2ts with wmp?

If so you can try install avisynth and the make a with text file with just
    DirectShowSource("C:\test\video.m2ts")

and save as video.avs and open in tmpgenc.

If tmpgenc wont open it you can use HCEnc! It's another very good free mpeg2 encoder. Or use AVStoDVD, it might be able to open the m2ts directly.

WMP opens it and it looks good for a second then it gets all blurry, same with TMPGEnc it opens the avs file but the results are unrecognizable
HCEnc wont open it,I try from the avs
This is from a panasonic camera,I have had nothing but trouble trying to get these files to work in anything but HD Writer which came with my camera,it does convert to MPEG2 but does it interlaced which looks terrible

Okey, then try DGMPGDec(mpeg2 m2ts) or DGAVCDec(avc/h264 m2ts). Use mediainfo to identify if your m2ts contains avc or mpeg2 video.

Open the m2ts in dg tool. Save project. Open the project dvs file in hcencoder.

I had the same trouble with my Panasonic AVCHD footage, so now I convert to Canopus HQ - there's a free conversion utility here -although it will only work with the HQ codec installed. That usually only comes with Edius or Procoder, but the freeware version from here seems to work OK.
Canopus HQ is a high quality intraframe format, which is easy to edit - I still use Premiere 6.5 -- and then frameserve to Virtualdub, allowing you to add whatever filters you need - deinterlacing etc - before outputting using whatever codec you like. I get pretty good results using the vfw x.264 codec straight from Vdub.

DGAVCDec decodes the video and it looks great. How do I open it in an encoder save project generates a .dga file and hcencoder acepts only .avs or .d2v files.
    Thankyou for all the help.
