  1. Hello everbody

At the time I'm trying to convert my captured avi to divx but for some reason doesn't work.
I've followed the guide on this site (vdub guide), but when I press save it says that the divx is hacked, and that I ignored. So now the little pop-up window comes up and then nothing happens. THERE IS NO ACTIVITY IN IT, I've let it run for over an hour and a half but stil no activity.

Now I've downloaded the 3.11, that is on this site, and I have tryed 4.12, I've tryed to mix thise two, but nothing.

    What can I do?
Can I youse the 4.12 codec, cause with only 4.12 vdub can't find a divx compression to the sound?

  2. Hello again.
I can't understnd what the problem is, you must be doing something very wrong or your copy of vdub is knackered. i can suggest two things.
1 - i find that vdub doesn't do a good job for me processing audio, i generally split audio off to separate file and convert it to an mp3, then recombine it with the finished divx. So...
    a - file, open avi
b - audio tab, direct stream copy
c - file, save wav (pick a nice name) -this is the audio as .wav
    d -video tab, full processing
    e- audio tab, no audio
f - video tab, compression (pick your codec, try divx low motion)
    g - file, save avi

if this works, u should have a video divx file and a separate audio .wav file.
Now convert your audio with your favourite cd ripping type prog to mp3.
Re mux vid and audio with a special version of vdub that supports mp3, download here:http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html
look at the bottom of the page.

2- if none of the earlier steps work just delete your vdub folder and re-download it, could have become corrupted somehow.
    good luck

  3. Just tried doing an avi cap to divx convertion doing both video and audio together as you seem to be doing (as the guide instructs you) and i get exactly the same problem - pop up showing time changining, but no fps indicated! If u do as i suggest above u should have nof probs.

I wonder if the guide needs updating? I wonder how many people have given up because they just couldn't get started?I guess most people automatically process audio and video separately so have never noticed this before.

  5. Erm... i'm not sure i understand your last statement, but i think you want instructions on how to remux (join) the video and mp3 audio.

1 - do everything as i said above
2 - start up the mp3-supporting version of virtualdub (download from previous link)
3 - file, open avi (video file)
4 - video tab, direct stream copy (only use full processing if you need to change the video part with filters etc.. in this case we are just mixing video and audio tegether so use direct stream copy as it is much quicker)
5 - audio tab, direct stream copy
6 - audio tab, (vbr)mp3 audio, select (browse) the mp3 you converted earlier
    7 - file, save avi

You should now have a divx with mp3 audio!

    NOW JUST DO IT!!!!
    Good luck.

  6. Just to make it clear, in step 3 above, the avi you should open is the divx file you created earier (the one with no sound)
