We have imported some miniDV into Premiere Elements 3. What is the best way to export a good quality video for uploading to YouTube. Any specifics would be great. Since 3.0 is a bit older, maybe investing in QT Pro is a better way to go?

try a couple free programs like mediacoder handbrake xmediarecode etc. what you want to do is convert the DVavi to mp4 with aac or mp3 audio. try using x264 as the encoder. a video bitrate of around 3000kbps is a good place to start.

ok, using Handbrake to test now. Original format is 720x480. Heard that YouTube looks for 640x480. Should anything be adjusted or will 720x480 work as well?

ok, just purchased Quicktime Pro to see if they have any presets. Still testing it out. Does anyone know if I shoudl convert video from 728x480 to 640x480 VGA for YouTube? Original footage was from miniDV so it was AVI.

Hey, is there a way to add some coding to YouTube embed codes so it plays in HQ by default?

  6. no, youtube is fine with 720x480. you can't get a HD link with 480i video. has to be uploaded to yt as high def to start with. at least 720p

After uploading, I see an HQ button. Sorry, wasn't HD. Looks like there is no way to use HQ as a default for embedding on a website?
