    Hello,

Today, I bought and viewed "The Exorcist" on blu-ray. Throughout the whole movie, in darker orange/yellow toned scenes, the picture looked grainy. I froze one scene, and the picture looked very pixelated with green and yellow artifacts all over. Is that normal? I own a Denon player DBP-2010CI connected directly to a Samsung 55" plasma HDTV using Monster Cable HDMI. I also noticed some graininess watching Doctor Zhivago. I thought it was because of the age of the movie. So now I'm wondering if my set up is wrong.

Also I was wondering, Max VanSydow's character in The Exorcist wore heavy make up to look much older. It looked really fake during the movie. You could see every fake crease and the uneven color of the make up. Is that because of blu-ray's definition or is it just bad make up?

Sorry if my questions seem trivial. I am just curious.

Both. Reminds me of George C Scott's fake eyebrows in Patton BD.

Hard to say but you be surprised how many crappy encodes are out there

This review site agrees with you on the picture quality of this BD title.

Thank you for the responses. I followed the above link, and it describes exactly my issue. So I know now it's not my system. Thank you.
