  1. I got 3 short MTS clips from a friend and I would like to use in a standard DV project. However, I can't import them in Premiere CS3. The easy way out is probably to convert them to AVI or even uncompressed.

    Is there free converter?

    Thanks!

lots of encoders in the tools section. you might try avidemux. set video to huffyuv and audio to pcm if you want uncompressed. file sizes may be 10x. other encoder front ends you could try - handbrake, mediacoder, xmedia recode, look in tools <--- left column.

is your pp cs3 fully updated? i thought it could open and use .mts files

  3. I am trying avidemux to open the MTS file.

It first says: This looks like mpeg. Do you want to index it?

No matter I choose, it will then fail with "Could not open the file".

The file plays back fine in MPC. It's 1440x1080

    What am I missing?

    Thanks!

  6. Prism works, even though it says the MTS may not be supported.

    Thanks
