  1. Test for VCD Compliancy

I am looking for a program that can test an mpeg file to ensure that it is a fully compliant VCD format standard. Yes, I did read _repair mpg_ and I have used MPEGProperties (the program). MPEGProperties does not specifically indicate if a file is 100% complaint, anything close seems to appear as complaint. And indeed, the main reason I discontinued using MPEGProperties is that it crashes Windows Explorer (file manager) under Windows 2000. It is unstable under Windows 2000.

I write to CD with CDRADO and VCDEasy. This application seems to perform some checks. However, mpeg files not of VCD complaint bitrates seem acceptable enough to the application to go ahead and burn to cd. Maybe these cds will play in fewer VCD and DVD players than cds made from 100% complaint mpeg files, I don_t know.

What I am looking for is a low overhead program or very simple way to definitively determine if an mpeg file is 100% VCD complaint or not.

    Thank you

  2. NERO has a simulation mode in most of their versions. I use (5.5.7.2). I also use it to see if my encoded file will fit on to the cd.

  3. You could try using your MPEG file in VCD Toolkit, the authoring proggy partly made by Philips.

This is extremely strict and will probably knock back just about everything.

If you want to view the specs of your MPEG file, you could try using "VCDXMINFO" -- a tool included in VCDImager.

    Regards.
