I just stopped by a Krispy Kreme today and got a dozen to take home.

When I arrived, I was surprised of what was in the box... barely.

They have reduced the donuts to almost HALF of their "normal" size... damn it... You could easily fit 15 of those in the box that was supposed to be for 12.

That is just NOT right!.

That happens with a lot of food, coffee for example is one pound can but usually has like 11 or 12 ounces in it. It used to be one pound. They drop the amount but keep the same package.

Really? I still buy mine in whole bean by the pound at a local coffee shop and it still says 1# when weighing it. Coffee prices went up when Katrina hit but I've actually been seeing them go down the past few years. If it's the supermarket stuff then they're just trying to run up profits. Go out and support your local coffee houses!

Most of the doughnut places around here are crap. On top of that, they charge about 10 bucks a dozen. I will drive the 8 miles to KK over the 20 places on the way, even if they have gotten smaller.

The only comparable place is Rollo's (a little better), but that's back in San Jose, which is no longer convenient (almost 500 miles).

MB, guess you're not too keen on their mini doughnuts, eh?

It's a pretty common practice and they do it with more than coffee. Cereal, potato chips or anything in container that can't be seen. They chop off an ounce here and there and the next thing you know it's 3 or 4 ounces less.

I'm still getting my doughnuts there... I'm just pissed that they are SO small now...

How is tis any different from the hundreds of other food shrinkage items you have surely noticed over the alst few years. I've even found them shrinking oil filters.
