    Hello to all on line.

I have a the latest version of virtual dub yet Im having trouble undrstanding how to Edit and syncronise text in virtual dub.

What I have is an avi in the time line, I want the movie to run for 600 frames at which point the image displayed is a text box that runs for 20 secs( text for its a voice over)so I want the first voice over to be synced with this text box and to end as the text box ends and the movie continues along the time line for a further 350 frames where the whole process shoul begin again,There are in all 6 voice overs and text boxs.

Now if i can acheive that i would then like to insert an audio file (Music appropriate to content)that will run the leanght of the movie'

What i have discovered is that in the audio section I should choose interleaving and enter in the delay audio box the time delay before my voice over begins,I have acheived this once but lost it when I advance to the next voice over imported the audio file and reset the delay function to match the second audio file.

Since then I cant get it to work again

Any advice on this would be greatly appreaciated.

  2. VirtualDub wasn't made for that type of editing. You will need to use an audio editor to create one big audio file then import that in to VirtualDub. Or you need a non-linear editor that will allow you to drop video and audio data anywhere along the timeline.

  4. There is one way you might be able to use VirtualDub. Work in sections and join them all together later (with VirtualDub).

For example, encode the first 600 frames of your video as you normally would. Save it as Part001.AVI. Include the original audio or silent audio as uncompressed PCM. Then encode your 20 second clip with its audio, again as uncomprssed PCM, saved as PART002.AVI. Continue with further sections, increasing the number in the file name with each clip. When your done you'll have:

    Part001.AVI
    Part002.AVI
    Part003.AVI
    Part004.AVI
    etc.

Then in VirtualDub open the first clip with File -> Open AVI File. Append all the rest with File -> Append AVI Segment (select the second file, all the rest will automatically append if you have them numbered sequentially). Put video in Direct Stream Copy mode. Put Audio in Full Processing Mode, select the audio compression codec and it's parameters, then Save as AVI.
