    Hi all,

I am using ConvertxtoDVD 3.7.2.188. However, i notice that sometime, when I burn the converted vob files into DVD (using nero)and played in the normal DVD player, the video tends to "hang" at towards the end. I try it on a 3 dvd player all has the same problem.

This happens especially when I convert a few avi into one 4.5gb dvd.

What could be the cause of this? Is there anything I did not get correctly?

Poor media. Errors tend to occur near the outer edges of the disc. What brand of blank DVDs are you using?

Rip with ISOBuster and then burn. That most likely will solve the problem, be it the particular disc or not. Don't use crap media-TY or Verbatim.

I agree. Poor media is usually the cause of that.

Oh yes i am using those no brand cheap cheap media... thanks alot for the advise. I'll try with better quality media and feedback later on. If not I'll try ISObuster.

however I notice that if I burn the original avi (instead of vob) into the dvd and play with divx enable dvd player, it seems like there's no problem playing thru. Just wonder why?

Also currently I still have a lot of no brand blank dvd left over. it might be wasteful if I dispose them off. Can I still make use of them for dvd 'shorter' video burning... say if I use it to burn a shorter show (1 or 2 instead of 4) would it help?

    Thanks.

Then by all means, keep them as AVI and don't convert...Burn the AVIs on your cheapo media until you get some better/reliable media..Your player may not complain too much, hopefully, but getting good media is the way- to-go..

Your original avi is probably not so big that you have to burn all the way to the outer edges of the disc. Material burnt to inner areas of no-brand discs may play okay. I'm guessing your problem occurs when you convert to larger DVD-compliant files that completely fill up the disc space on the cheap media.

What if say I target the "output size" in the ConvertxtoDVD to say, for example, 4gb instead of the default of 4.4gb. This way it will not take up the outer edge of the disc right? Will it helps? I don't mind so much about the resultant video quality but I need to convert it into a dvd format because my dad'S DVD player don't play Divx...
