  1. This is what I'm trying to accomplish:

Place as many songs on one VCD as possible. Use 128kbps rate for music as is popular bit rate for MP3s. Have a still image pop up and stay on screen during the entire song WITHOUT having a big video file aspect for each song. I'm hoping this will minimize file size and I can place 50+ songs in the VCD menu, each with its own still image.

    Is this possible?

  2. Not a bad idea.
But there may be some restrictions.Audio should be VCD compliant, not sure if this allows 128 kbps. Audio to converted to mp2 and multiplexed to achieve this.
All audio, Video Stills should go into the segment folder of the VCD.
Some folks reported problems on this forum trying this method of playing audio on VCD.
So, Let me know if it works.

  3. Definitely possible if you use audio only segment items.

The audio bitrate of audio only items is flexible (read the VCDImager manual for more details).

mikk posted a good guide here: http://www.geocities.com/mikk999/StillsWithAudio.htm
