Is it possible to have a y splitter for fiber optic cables?

I was wondering if they make y splitters for fiber optic cables.

I know they make switchers for fiber optic cables. I have a three way switcher I use for my dvr, xbox 360, and ps3.

What I would like is a y splitter to send the fiber optic signal to my hauppauge hd pvr from the cable dvr and then to the amp simultaneously. Do those exist? Would it have to be powered?

Yes, there is such a thing as a passive fiber optic coupler. That takes light coming in from 1 fibre and divides it out on to 2 or more fibres.

The other issue is power lose through the splitter, but you could try it and see. I found that one with a internet search for ' fiber optic splitters '. You might do a further search and see if other ones are available for a reasonable price. I would also make sure your fiber optic ends are compatible. Most are Toslink, but I have seen variations.
