    There could be various reasons.
    1) The bit rate that you chose to use when encoding was too low.
    2) Your source is flawed, but because it's at a smaller than DVD resolution the flaws weren't easy for you to pick up on. Note that Divx is lossy to begin with and re-encoding to DVD isn't going to make it better. Try watching the Divx file on your PC in full screen mode. Does it look bad? Well, there's your answer.

The fact that the source file is 1.1 GB is completely irrelevant and useless for us to know. How LONG is it? If it's less than 1 hour long, the bit rate it was encoded with may be as high as possible for DVD and you've just got a bad quality source that you encoded to DVD. Encoding to DVD entails using another lossy codec (MPEG-2) and encoding one lossy source to another lossy format can often degrade quality. To refer back to something I already said, if your Divx clip is at less than DVD resolution, it may have been resized up to DVD resolution and that is often bad for quality. Adding borders to fill up the area instead of resizing might be helpful, but I don't know that you can do that in SVCD2DVD.

  3. Some source files aren't that easy for the encoder to determine a bitrate for. I have had many come out undersized due to this issue and regardless of the encoder used (Procoder, CCE, FFmpeg), so in my experience it is a source file problem. Attach your log file and we can see if it sheds any light.
