Sony AVCHD(.m2ts) to XviD AC3

hello, is out there a tool that convert Sony AVCHD(.m2ts) to a nice .avi (XviD-AC3) I would like to have my clips ripped like those DVDRips on torrent sites... (like: RocknRolla.DVDRip.XviD-DiAMOND if you know what I mean)

I would try Xvid4psp. Install ffdshow and avisynth and then try to load your m2ts files in xvid4psp. Convert to avi xvid with ac3. Choose the AVI Hardware profile if you want it to work on divx dvd players.

and it says you dont have YV12 decoder! It's need for source interlace detraction.

make sure h.264/avc is enabled in the ffdshow configuration (set to libavcodec instead of disabled), and haali media splitter installed

As much as I like Xvid4PSP, I've never had much luck converting AVCHD files from camcorders with it. Are your M2TS files from a Sony camcorder?

Download the 3 day demo of Neo Scene.

Convert the M2TS files to Cineform AVI.

Then open the AVIs in VirtualDub or Xvid4PSP to create your XVid AVIs

It works, but 3 days demo sucks a bit, why are those codecs massed up when trying to open M2ts in Xvid4pSp, is there other solution.

Sweet the solution is here , I copy .MTS file directly from camera HDD and Xvid4PSP opened it no problemo sweet!!!

How did you copy/transfer it before? Isn't it the same method or does it add something to the video file?

(I have no sony camcorder as you can guess.... )

With Sony Handycam Utility and it changes extension from .MTS to .m2ts...

yes,
this also causes me much headache. My friend gave me some m2ts video from his Sony camcorder and I also have this problem. I tried different methods but without success:

1) rename extension to mts and use _multi_demux_mts_Xvid.bat from here:

- operation stops after short time with no video converted

2) directshowsource via Avidemux or Virtualdub and Avisynth. Both load the video but there is problems with saving as normal avi (resized to 720x400 or something similar).Virtualdub worked 24 hours (for 1.5 hours video) and produced damaged video (with approx. same size as original) with wrong FPS and MPC also reported some problem with chunks. Avidemux worked about 30 minutes, the video was smaller, but with no sound.

3) Mediacoder also failed

so I am going to try to get the mts directly from camera and try again.

i have converted HD H-264 (MKV) download files from the net to standard def Xvid format if thats what your after.

i used Super 2009, its about the only tool i found that would import these to output to SD Xvid, as my regular video encoder (TMPGEnc xpress) wont.

i will leave it up to you to find the download links, but these people make this tool freely available, yet make us work like shit to find the right download sources, and its a joke.

Never quite understood why everyone gets so out shape over the SUPER download links. Yes, it isn't the most intuitive site to download from (although it's not that hard), but there is a direct link in the Tools section that bypasses the need to get it from erightsoft's poorly designed website anyway.

I tried latest SUPER, but the video is strange. When I use mencoder and 720x576 3000 kbps XVID with MP3 sound - it takes many hours, the file is not much smaller then original.

I used AVANTI (version 0.3.7) with FFmpeg SVN-r19163 and converted to XVID Avi 720x576 with 128 Kbps MP3 sound (44 KHz) - checked "Deinterlace", Frame size 720x576, Frame rate "Source", Colorspc. "Source", Aspect ratio "Source". And produced avi file has finally correct sound and fps.

hi m8, i use Super 2009 a lot for converting high def H264 mkv files to SD Xvid as i find it does it very well with excellent quality, and i only output to Xvid because my dvd players wont play H264 and nor will my current SD noontek hdd media players.

with my mpeg2 to Xvid i use tmpgenc at the moment and use the deinterlace option but i output to a target quantizer of 3.0 not a fixed bitrate, and i also output to 44100 @ 128 audio for Xvid, where my mpeg2 files are 48000 @ 224
