Hello. I'm trying to find a way to have a weekly video podcast. I have a camera and a computer. What are some of the best ways to go about doing this? Also, What would be the best software to capture the video from the camera that could also convert it to something compatible for us as a video podcast? Is there a way (or software) that can capture directly from the screen? (like audacity but for video)

    thank you

I've been playing around with camstudio. It seems like it's too choppy in order to be a good quality video podcast? Anyway to fix that(I don't know the program well) or a different program that run smoother?

  3. Camstudio is intended for screen recording, not video transfer. You could use it, but it's probably better just to record your segment and then transfer directly to PC for editing and encoding. What kind of camera & model are you using?

If you did want to use camstudio for screen recording, what settings did you use? What fps, dimensions, and codec? e.g. It's possible the fps is set too low, resulting in choppiness. Also are you listed specs up to date, it's possible you are dropping frames depending on the settings used and hardware specs
