hello guys just wanted to know if it ok to place a sticker in the upper surface of a DVD or CD. Does it affect the DVD when you put a sticker on the upper portion of it??

A lot of people claim that it does, so I put the stickers on the bottom surface
Anyway - I have never had a problem with stickers on CDs, but I do not put stickers on DVDs."I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own" - the Prisoner

There is a very long post on the subject somewhere (I am sure someone will post a link soon), but the general consensus is no. Stickers throw off the balance, bubble under heat, can come loose in the drive, and are generally a bad thing.
Most are happy just writing on the surface with a sharpie. If you want more than that then you need to look at getting a printer that can print on disc surfaces, and using printable discs.Read my blog here.

A really bad idea, IMO.
There are many older posts in the forums related to problems with paper labels on DVDs. They can affect the balance of the DVD and damage the drive, or come off and get stuck in the drive. You would be safer using a 'Sharpie' pen to label your discs or use a DVD label printer or a LightScribe DVD burner.
