hey i just used the new version of smartripper as and use the settings as shown in one of the vcdhelp.com guides, then i used dvd2avi to get the video and audio stream. Finally i loaded up tmpgenc 2.52 and encoded the movie as a svcd (ntsc) - when the movie was finished.. it seemed to work fine.. only the video seemed to lag a little.. definatly NOT like a svcd should.. and also the widescreen didn't stay.. it turned into FS somehow! im positive there is only the widescreen movie on the dvd.. the fs is on the first disc only. so how do i keep the widescreen and improve on the video quality and reduce this lag?? thanks in advance for your help
i encoded on a pentium III 800mhz with 192mb of ram and windows ME

thanks i fixed the widescreen problem with that solution.. ! now all i have to do is not make the svcd so choppy.. and it looks like some of the detailing just isn't there either.. whats the formula for making a near perfect svcd using smart ripper/dvd2avi/tmpgenc ? thanks :D

did you check the field order before encoding? stuttering playback will result if it is wrong. to fix it without re-encoding run pulldown -nopulldown -tff [odd, even]
