After an absence, I'm confused about ffmpeg versions and which is "latest" and whether they're compatible with commandline switches, etc..
I used to use sourceforge and it had versions like "build 16596" (and still is on that site) whereas now on videohelp it says version like "0.5" and it seems sourced from a different place.
Also, automated builds from http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/autobuilds/ seems to have different numbering again.
Can someone please shed some light ?
Thanks
PS: I have an AVI with fourcc VP6F ... will ffmpeg understand that as an input and can I convert it to something else, say mp4 with the same dimensions etc with the latest ffmpeg (and how?) ?

version 0.5 is the latest "official" release. To get the latest bleeding edge stuff continue using the svn versions that you have been. I'm unsure about the autobuild stuff but I know Chris K has a thread somewhere here talking about it.
