  5. first of all rip as a single vob your dvd
launch HDC, point to your ifo file or to vob

    select audio stream
    select codec/container type
    set codec/video quality
    select final size
    select resizing
    start

  6. again i still don't know how to rip my dvd as a single vob.
    i've never done this before.
i use dvdfab to rip my dvd to my hard drive and use xvid4psp to make my mkv file. i was just seeing if there was a better program out there.
is there a better codec out there than mkv for a better quality pichure.
    thanks again

  7. mkv isnt' a CODEC is a container , like avi or mp4 or .divx

if you want quality select mkv as container, x264 as codec, encode by quality (crf = 18 )

  9. if you use dvddecrypter you have a convenient option to not split vob

launch dvddecrypter -> tools -> settings -> ifo mode -> File Splitting: set it to none

    then rip your dvd

DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in ages and as a result it no longer works for a lot of more current DVD Video releases. So sometimes you have to use DVDFab HD Decrypter instead.

There are a couple of work arounds to this though ...

1.) Rip with DVDFab HD Decrypter first to an ISO file. Then mount that with something like Daemon Tools and rip again to a single VOB using DVD Decrypter.

2.) Rip with DVDFab HD Decrypter to a DVD VIDEO_TS folder of DVD Video files. Then use pgc.NET to rip to a single VOB file.

I thought I would bring this up because several people have mentioned using DVD Decrypter but nobody mentioned that hey it doesn't always work well these days.

As for the two methods listed I would try method 2 as I think it is the easier of the two options.
