  1. I am having lots of problems with « What happen in Vegas…” b.r. My “normal” solution is rip with Makemkv then re-encode with handbrake. But Makemkv wont rip it, so I used anydvd trial to make an ISO. I then convert the ISO to mkv using MakeMkV (because handbrake wont read M2TS files) . I can play the mkv fine with the CCCP codec player, so the encryption is gone.

The problem I have now is handbrake chokes on the mkv, it says its opening but it wont do it. Its either very slow at opening or it does not support the video or audio codec inside the mkv. I am at work now, but I will inspect the mkv tonight to see what codec is used for the video and for audio’s and post it here.

Any other software (simple to install) could be use to re-encode the mkv?

  3. Thanks!

I will check it out. If it allow to make h264 with a custom resolution (1280x720) and a custom bitrate (2000) it may work. I also need 2 audio tracks and this is what is often stopping me from using a tool. There are tons of tool out there, but not a lot of them supports multiple audio tracks

That may be whats making hangbrake choke, because I know it can handle AVC and normal AC3 audio

  5. I finally did the re-encode:

1- AnyDVD HD : rip the BR to ISO image.
2- MakeMKV : convert the ISO to a mkv file. (no re-encoding)
3- PopCorn MKV AudioConverter : Re-encode the DTS to AC3 by doing a mkv to mkv conversion with the tool.
    4- Handbrake : re-encode mkv to mkv (1280x720 2000kbps H264 video, AC3 audio tracks

Went from 26 gigs to 2.1gigs with no visible quality differences...
