    Hi,

I want to successfully demux a MPEG-2 AV file into its seperate video and audio files. It did not come from a dvd, but resulted from being encoded with Premiere Pro. Thus far I have struck out. The main problem is the demuxed audio is distorted and therefore unusuable or there is some sort of an error message early in the demuxing process and it fails. I may be using the wrong application (or not the ideal) in order to achieve this goal.

What would you use? It's supposed to be simple but not yet!

My machine is Windows 32 bit XP.

    Thanks so much.

  2. You can try DGIndex , file=>save project and demux video , or if you just want the audio , file=>demux audio

AFAIK pgcdemux only reads .IFO. In addition to others above there is also mpeg-vcr and mpeg video wizard.

Rejig will demux an mpeg2 file ('All Files').

I tried Rejig, TMPGENC and DG index amongst others.

All of them badly distorted the audio after demuxing the file.

The MPEG-2 file plays fine from either the prem Pro 2 or 3 timeline though.

If the audio is exported the resulting wav file is also distorted when played back.

    Go figure. I'm perplexed.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

No, they didn't. Demuxing does not re-encode of alter the encoding of the file in anyway, so it will not cause this type of distortion.

If the file play correctly from the timeline, and is only damaged on export, then either you are doing something horribly wrong with Premiere, or perhaps you have a broken decoder in your system that is causing your playback problem.

How about you start by using MediaInfo to confirm what is in your mpeg file, and what type of WAV file you are creating from Premiere.
