Basically, my gripes about people who should know better by now. The other thread was minly the Why, now I'll concentrate on the Who (nothing to do with Roger Daltry).

Here's another one. Over a year lurking before "her" first post (which would normally be good), but still manages to **** it all up.

That's what I mean about how some people just don't care. Almost two years to get a feel for the place, and look what happens.

And it's not about "internet anonymity' when it comes to simple rules and instructions. I know people that seem as normal and receptive as can be in person, whom I can give a simple instruction and they'll do it, simply. That same person I can instruct over email and suddenly they're sending me messages every minute saying "I CAN'T DO IT!!! COME HELP ME!" When I see them in person, I give the exact same instructions that I gave over email, without hand-holding ("Highlight, now press control and C, now click where you want it, now press control and V") and they get it without the slightest hesitation.

Not all people are techies. Most of us want to push the button, and see it work. We don't care HOW it works.
That's why we have no patience and desire to spend an hour Googling for an answer. It's far easier and quicker to post a simple question. You call that lazy. So what if it is?

What you say here makes absolutely no sense at all. Techies aren't people who know HOW everything works, techies are smart enough to realize they don't know how everything works, but they do take the time and effort to gain some understanding on how it works. At the very least they invest some time and effort into understanding enough about a program to be able to use it effectively. Then hopefully being able to pass that knowledge on to those who want and are able to learn it. Also, very few people explain HOW many of these programs work, they simply tell you how to work with them to get what you need out of them. To be honest, spending an hour to solve a problem is really a drop in the bucket, unless you happen to have ADD. If an hour is too much time to invest, spend it on something else you desire more. No one is forcing you to do anything.

The thing about asking a simple question is that you expect other people to do the work to figure out the problem for you. That's not only lazy but it's rude. In essence you are saying that your time is more valuable than the people's time that you are expecting help from. Especially considering that the help you are getting is free of charge. If you expect anything that is free to be simple and handed to you (without some strings attached), grow up and get clue. Is everyone supposed to cater to your needs???

Actually an hour searching with Google IS too much time wasted. Video is a tiny part of my life.
I don't expect other people to work things out for me. If they know the answer it will take them a couple of minutes to answer it. To which I am very grateful. So no, it's not rude.

You should seriously start reading before posting, as once again you are asking something that you could have found yourself.

There is a sticky called HOW DO I GET MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED IN THESE FORUMS, I'm going to include the parts that I think you really need to get:

#3 read this site. if i had $1 for every post that can be answerd by placing a link to another page of this very site i could retire. before asking your question ask yourself if you have looked at the guides and FAQ, if you havent then you shouldnt be asking. this includes looking at the player list to check for compatibility.

the most important thing you can do is to show that you are trying to help yourself. nobody want to help someone that gives the impression they can't even help themselves.

As you can see, it is pretty clear. Even the forum rules state that you have to try to find the answer yourself at first before posting.
